Oranges and lemons is my favorite XTC album but this band paints fantastic sound scapes across all of their discography..definitly a band for audiophiles.
Oh no, youtube's latest re-encoding of old videos has completely destroyed this one. It's almost unrecognizable now. Someone needs to re-upload this version of the video at a higher res so it can be watched.
In the day - XTC did I pre-show radio events - show up - interview - play. When the visited philly - on air at MMR - local FM station - they did an acoustic version of this song. Never got a copy

My cousin (born in 79) passed away, and this song brings me so close to him… He didn’t know the words so he’d sing the backup like “PLEASE BA DEE BA DEE TO THE MAYOR OF SIMPLETON” so loud and confidently. This song was super important to him.
